šŸ—žļø The Story

Legend has it that in 1967, Italian designer Giancarlo Mattioli conceived the Nesso Lamp for Artemide, drawing inspiration from the curves of a beautiful Italian woman's belly button, which Italians poetically refer to as "l'ombelico di una bella donna". Much like other enduring Italian designs such as Vespa scooters, Smeg refrigerators, and the Alfonso Bialetti Moka Pot, the Nesso Lamp has remained in production by Artemide for over 40 years.

Belonging to the esteemed 'Modern Classics' reissued line, the Nesso lamp was a pioneering feat of ABS thermoplastic injection-molding upon its debut, bringing industrial materials and methods into home and office environments. With a dash of color and a design inspired by nature, Nesso embodies the visionary identity of Artemide.

As furniture trends continue to embrace design aesthetics from past eras such as Mid-Century Modern and iconic Scandinavian lighting, it's no wonder that Italian modular design has also surged in popularity. In today's Gen-Z and Millennial homes showcased across Instagram, carefully curated corners adorned with houseplants reign supreme.

What's evident is that the Nesso Lamp has firmly established itself in the retro-eclectic paradises of these youthful homes, becoming a design staple that remains consistent across all these spaces. Its iconic curves make it a true collectible, an expressive statement piece of internationally acclaimed caliber and fame.
